Ok, I have joined the godforsaken trend of getting a blog. Maybe it's all the ranting I've done to a few select friends over the past few weeks, I'm getting more and more unsatisfied with keeping all my sundry thoughts to myself. Not that they are quality thoughts, but they are mine and I am rather partial to them.
Where to start? I'm a recently turned 20 year old girl enrolled at the University of Delaware, where sometime within the next 5 years I wish to be able to graduate with a measly piece of paper and be able to enter the viable workforce. Woo. I actually managed to drag myself to Child Development class, a real effort on my part, and the professor didn't even show up, and we had to watch a horribly boring movie. I didn't. I was too busy reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I think it scares my friends, but my latest obsession is HP slash fic. I am an unabashed fan of slash fanfiction, and I have been since I first stumbled upon an Angel/Spike fic when I was 16. I will unconsciously slash everything in my head, and some rather scary things have come of that tendency of mine. For the record, I still think Kevin and AJ should leave their respective wives/girlfriends and start going at it like weasels. Backstreet love, it's a good thing. Anyhoo, I hadn't really given HP fanfic much thought, but I was bored, and no new interesting Weiss fics were out, well, at least none with any pairing I can stand, but that's another rant in itself, and decided to go to ff.net and look through the HP fics. I, being the hentai I am, immediately went to the NC-17 fics, and somehow managed to stumble across an absolutely yummy bit of Draco/Harry slash, and so it began.
I have scoured the net searching for all the ficcage I could find, and there are some incredibly well written stories out there. There's also some really bad stuff, but that's the way everything is, so I can't complain. Being a picky girl, I have definite fanfic preferences, and my HP ones have been defined rather quickly.
1.) I love Severus Snape.
He was such a bitch in the books, and I liked that. He's a "good guy" and is a nasty, ill tempered bastard. Yup. He's angst waiting to happen. And he's so
versatile, you can pair him with anyone! Hehe. Personally, something about that all consuming hatred of Sirius Black is setting off my "yaoidar", and it would be so
pretty, all long black hair and dark eyes....
2.) HarryxRon just doesn't do anything for me.
3.) DracoxHarryxRon does. Go figure.
4.) Twincest is good thing.
Well, this counts for all fandoms with me. I still do not understand why people get so offended by reading incest in stories. Sure, in our society it's looked down upon,
but that's only become the case in the past 500 years or so, give or take a century. Anyhoo, the Weasley twins, Subi and Ami, Alex and Misery, it's all good. And now
I am dying to read a KuriexRecca fic, and I know there isn't one out there, well at least one in English anyway. *pouts*
Digressing from my little list, why the hell do fanfic readers get so offended by fics containing incest, shotakon, and the like? I admit to being someone who takes perverse pleasure out of other mailing list's flame wars, and was reading through some HP list archives, and the stuff thrown out, attacking people for not aging characters and the like, boggled my mind. I understand personal preferences, and if you don't like it you don't have to read it, but to attack people because they do is not spiffy. I happen to be a very enthusiastic fan of shotakon, so the thought of 14 year old Harry and Draco scrumping doesn't bother me in the least, but I do not like being called a pedophile because of it. I come from a large family, one that isn't all that different from every other family out there, and my 11 year old nephew knows more about sex than I did at 16, so I very well know that just because someone is 11 or 12 does not mean they are innocent. And all justification for it aside, it's a story written for fun about two fictional characters. It's not the end of the world if Draco gives Snape a blowjob for extra credit in Potions class.
Grr, my fucking mouse, the Mouse of Death, Doom, and Destruction, is the Uber Bitch. It constantly freezes, and any attempt to fix that causes the rest of my computer to freeze, or it starts jumping and clicking on stuff on it's own, wreaking much havoc. Pisses me off, and I have to save this thing like every other sentence or I lose it all. There will be ranting from here on out on the status of the MDDD.
In other rambly news, I have Touched by Vast stuck in my head, and I am currently angry at Page Builder cause I can't work on my pet project cause it won't work, and the MDDD doesn't like it very much either. So far I only have the preliminary splash page up, but that in itself was enough to make Carenda choke on her milkshake and send others into fits. Yeesh, I hope when I am done with it it lives up to the hype, web making skills do not a Kimmie posess...Teehee
I should really stop rambling and work on the paper on Orwell's Burmese Days that is due tomorrow...but I don't feel like writing about Flory and the tart Elizabeth, they can take their pukka sahib-ness and shove it up their asses.
